"In addition to my familiarity with her recorded efforts, I have caught tenor and baritone saxophonist and flutist Carol Sudhalter live in a number of formats and varied contexts. To name only several representative occasions, I have enjoyed her quintet at Cajun Restaurant in New York, where she has held forth at the Sunday brunch for the past decade and a half, witnessed her holding her own and then some in a no-holds-barred jam in the company of five horn players, all male, at Umbria Jazz, and seen her leading her big band at the 2004 Mary Lou Williams Women in Jazz Festival at Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center. These, and other, exposures to Carol’s polished skills, good taste, and exemplary ability to project her deep feeling for jazz have convinced me that she is one of the strongest players on her instruments currently on the scene. "Oltre a conoscere molto bene i suoi lavori discografici, ho avuto la possibilità di ascoltare dal vivo la sassofonista Carol Sudhalter al sax tenore e baritono e al flauto in varie formazioni e contesti.
